Threads in My Hand

Thurman Quote: “Only one end of the threads, I hold in my hand. The threads go many ways, linking my life with other lives.”

Citation:  “The Threads in My Hand,” in Meditations of the Heart, 126.

Description: Interpretation can focus on the threads of connection. Those connecting threads do not have to be of the same hue, warp, or even function. Interpreting our relationships as different links might help us see our practice of interpretations as always “touched” and “tied” to others. Whose link rings clearest in your respective acts? And whose links do you often forget or ignore as you interpret scripture, life, self, and Spirit?

Reflect on: Our practices of interpretation as acts of threading connections and tracing relationship links
